A YEAR WITHOUT SHOES ::day 231::

::day 231::  Sunday, March 25.  Hey  everybody!  Since we started our "campaigning," most of what we've done has been planning.  We had one speaking engagement scheduled for Thursday of this last week, but that ended up falling through.  We're working on getting more engagements, so if you have any ideas, let us know on the Facebook page, we'd love to hear from you!

Other than that, not too much has been going on for AYWOS.  My feet have been loving this weather! In fact, we went to the beach today! Obviously it's still too cold to swim in Lake Michigan, but it was a lot of fun to run around on the beach and feel the sand between my toes! You guys would be surprised at the number of different textures I feel on my feet through out the course of a day.

Lastly, as always, I wanted to give you guys a quick reminder that we can always use a donation.  Even if it's only a few bucks here or there, or even only a one time donation of a couple dollars, we'd love your support! Also, don't forget that if you donate money, you'll get your very own personal thank you card! thank you guys so much, good bye, and God bless.

A YEAR WITHOUT SHOES ::day 227::

::day 227::  Wednesday, March 21.  Hey guys!  Some big stuff is happening with AYWOS.  First and foremost, on the agenda is the possibility of changing the primary recipients of the shoes to Uganda instead of Swaziland.  I know this seems like a really BIG change, but there are several reasons for it.  First:  our primary contact in Swaziland has told us that he's well funded and currently isn't in need of the shoes at the moment. Second:  We've recently gained some contacts in Uganda, who are in urgent need of shoes.  Dan Martinez, who I've talked about before, has communicated directly with several Ugandan people, and they all think that our ministry would be well received and is very much needed.  It seems that at the exact time we were losing connections in Swaziland, we made a huge jump in Uganda.   It seems really well timed. We still plan to send shoes to Swaziland if we are able to identify a specific need.  (If anyone out there, is able to hep us with this, please comment or FB message us!)

Another big change that's happening for AYWOS is that we are reconsidering where/which company from which to purchase our shoes.  A number of people have questioned us about the cost we were willing to incur to purchase shoes, challenging us to look for different sources that may offer us a better price break.  We think this is wise counsel and we are following through. We are also considering trying to purchase shoes from merchants in country.  Lots of footwork (yup, pun intended!!) needs to be done in the next couple of months. Again, anyone with ideas or connections, please message us! Currently, we are hoping to raise $7,500 to purchase 365 pairs of shoes.

Also, I believe I'm going to start "campaigning" for A Year Without Shoes.  By this, I mean that I'm going to be pushing for more donations, I'm going to be booking speaking engagements, primarily at youth groups and churches, and we're gonna be actively involved in "One Day Without Shoes," which is a Toms Shoes initiative to raise awareness about shoeless-ness and ways that you can help.  As always, I'll be going barefoot on that day, and I'll be encouraging people to give to AYWOS as a way of supporting that.  Please watch the update video, and we'll have a promotional video for our take on "One Day Without Shoes" soon, so stay tuned for that! Thank you guys so much for reading, and understanding the changes that are being made! Thanks again, good bye and God bless.

A YEAR WITHOUT SHOES ::day 217::

::day 217:: Sunday, March 11. The snow's finally gone! I hope it's gone for good, but as could be seen before, you never know!  I feel like we've really come around a corner, coming into spring.  I feel like the hardest parts of the year are over, now that winter's gone.  I don't have to worry about the cold, or about how I'm gonna do stuff normal stuff like walk outside or clean off the car.  It's a pretty big weight off my shoulders.

In other AYWOS news, I'm hopefully going to do another promotional video later this week, about the progress we've made and how we need to continue making progress. There's always room for improvement, right? We're also making the video to talk about Toms Shoes "Day Without Shoes." It's gonna be pretty fun!

Also, as always, don't forget that you can donate here on the webpage by clicking on the donate tab at the top, or by mailing a check to Freshwater Community Church in Paw Paw.  If you write a check, don't forget to write a year without shoes in the purpose line. Thank you guys so much for your support! Good bye, and God bless!

A YEAR WITHOUT SHOES ::day 211::

::day 211::  Monday, March 5. SNOW!!! The thing about Michigan weather, is that you never know whast you're gonna get.  Apparently, Michigan wasn't done with winter, even though I was. I went away to Taylor college for a weekend visit, and when i left there was no snow.  But when I came back, there was a lot of snow on the ground!  Needless to say, my feet were none too happy. Thankfully, the news is saying that we're gonna be having sunny weather and, hopefully, no snow from here on out! I don't know about anyone else, but I've got my fingers crossed

Of course, like always, don't forget to like the facebook page if you haven't already! And as always, you can donate under the donate tab on the website or you can mail a check to Freshwater Community Church! Also, if you donate, I'll write you a personalized thank you card! That's all for now, so until next time, goodbye, and God bless!
