::day 174:: Happy Tuesday everyone! It's been a while since I blogged last, so I'll try my best to get you guys up to speed.  Not a whole lot happened during the week itself, so we'll skip to the weekend.  Over the weekend I went on a winter retreat called Fire and Ice. It happens every year at Center Lake Bible Camp.  It's not entirely outdoor, but a lot of the buildings are pretty far apart.  It tested my endurance walking back and forth between those buildings ll weekend! Especially the shower/ bathroom building which ws about as far away from my cabin as possible! Also, the camp has a tubing hill, which I go on every year.  Of course, the tubing hill is about a half mile away, so the socks and grocery bags went on my feet for that trek.

While at the winter retreat, our group spent an evening at the Ferris State Rec Canter.  While I was there, a guy told me that he had already been informed of my situation, but wasn't allowed to let me walk around barefoot.  He was happy enough to let me wear my surgical booties though, so it was lucky that I brought them along!  It was a close call, especially since I only thought to bring the booties last minute!  I hope you guys enjoy this little look into my life, and gives you a little better picture of what I'm going through! Until next time, good bye and God bless!

::day 168:: Wednesday, January 25. I got to do a radio interview for the first time in my life!  I was on "Just A Few With Clarice Drew," which is a show on Public Reality Radio in Grand Rapids, MI.  I had a lot of fun with Clarice, who is possibly the nicest person I've ever met.  It was really cool to get the word out on the radio, and get to see what it's like in a radio studio! Thanks for having me, Clarice!

I had an interesting dilemma I'm sure you guys will be interested in hearing.  This last weekend was my girlfriend's birthday, and I wanted to take her on a special date.  She's been telling me for weeks how much she wants to go ice skating, but hasn't been able to because none of her friends like to ice skate.  I had the genius idea of taking her ice skating and then I realized this was not happening because, well, a skate is essentially a shoe, right?!  Grrrr!!!  I had to get creative, and finally settled on bundling up my feet and taking her sledding.  Less special, but it was a good deal better than nothing.  So next time someone asks me what sacrifices I've had to make, I'll tell them about that.  Anyway, until next time, good bye and God bless.

::day 163:: Frday, January 20.  Big news guys! The guys at Rhino Media helped me out by doing a winter photo shoot, to get some pictures of my little tootsies in the snow! We got some really cool pictures in different areas around my home town of Gobles.  And I, of course, also got some very cold toes! It was really a lot of fun, and I'm looking forward to see how the pictures turn out.

In even bigger news, I'm gonna be on the news!!! First on Fox17 tonight, and hopefully on Channel 3 on sunday!  We already did all the shooting and the interview earlier, and it's going to be on air tonight! Everyone needs to tune into Fox17 news at ten and show some support on the website and the Facebook page, and even more support by clicking the donate button above! Until next time, good luck and God bless =]

::day 157::  Saturday, January 14.  Hey Everyone!  So, the Kalamazoo Gazette did publish a great article and picture!  I'm pumped about the publicity especially if it helps in buying shoes for kids in need!
Funny story...the other night my sister and I were leaving youth group.  I was sprinting to the car because that's what I do in the snow.  (Sprinter in the winter!) A lady sees me and of course, asks why I have no shoes.  My sister decides to take the time to tell her all about AYWOS so I need to be polite and go back to talk to her.  Um, yeah, my feet hurt so bad standing outside chatting about why I was barefoot!  I'm normally pretty "cool" talking about it but this time I was FREEZING!!!  Thanks for stopping by!

::day 149::  Thursday, January 5.  Well, she was a month and a half late, but winter has come, and I think she intends to stay!  There's several inches of snow on the ground, which means everyday life is making drastic changes for me.  This morning, I had to scrape the ice off my car.  Any other year, not a big deal.  However, this year, I'm gonna have to get a little faster at using the scraper! I'm thinking about buying some socks that are used for scuba diving.  They're just like regular socks, but thicker and water proof.  I think that falls under the category of alternative footwear. what do you guys think?  Until next time, goodbye, and God bless.
